Established in 1938, the Illinois Council for the Social Studies (ICSS) stands as the leading professional organization for educators in social sciences ranging from Pre-K to Graduate Level in Illinois.
ICSS dedicates itself to enhancing the professional abilities of teachers in social studies, fostering conversations around best teaching practices, and acting as a platform for the essential task of teaching Illinois' students about history, geography, civics, economics, psychology, sociology, religious studies, and other vital subjects for maintaining our democratic society.
As a branch of the National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS), ICSS represents the professional community for numerous teachers across Illinois.
